"The Lifeboat," a book I narrated this winter, has hit the New York Times Bestsellers list at #15! Audiofile Magazine says, "Gripping suspense swells throughout Rebecca Gibel's narration....Gibel ably performs the gruff voices of men and the accents of international passengers."
Just finished a second call-back for the national tour of Billy Elliot. Such a pleasure working with such creative and passionate folks! Fingers crossed.
Today was our first day of rehearsals for "Boeing Boeing" at Trinity Rep. My stomach hurts from laughing. I couldn't be more excited to be part of this project. The show runs April 13 - May 13. Visit www.trinityrep.com
Cross your twinkle toes! I've been called back for the roles of Billy's Mum and Mrs. Wilkinson in the National Tour of Billy Elliot.
Here's what NightlyReading, a book blog, had to say about my narration of "Daughters of Eve"
"I can honestly say that I think this has been my favorite audiobook that I have listened to so far. The narrator’s voice was awesome. I was able to distinguish between all of the characters that were speaking. She really was able to get her voice to sound just like the guys. I was in awe and mesmerized. I wanted to do nothing but listen to this book from beginning to end."
Heartwarming feedback from the Liz Flaherty, author of the audiobook I recently narrated, "One More Summer." The review is posted on audible.com
Liz writes: "Thank you, Rebecca Gibel! Since I wrote this story, it's natural that I love it, but I was newly thrilled to hear it in someone else's voice. What a voice it was. She nailed the characters as well as if she'd written them. She became the people and I was lost. I found myself surprised at what happened next, because the story became hers when she told it."
I just got called back for an exciting commercial musical extravaganza. More info to come.
Just finished voicing some snippets of the works of Amelia Edwards, a 19th century British writer, Egyptologist, and early champion for the research and preservation of Ancient Egyptian monuments. Quite a lady.
Working with Jacki Lyden and NPR producer, Liz Baker, was thrilling. They are as curious, intelligent, and vivacious as I imagined. A true pleasure.
The segment will air nationally on NPR in the next week or so. I'll update when I have specifics!
I've been hired to do voice-over work for a national NPR segment with Jacki Lyden! As a lifelong NPR geek, I couldn't be more excited!
